Jessica Burpee, MPPA (Masters in Public Policy and Administration - Geography)
Jessica Burpee has been teaching Geography at John Abbott College since 1999. Prior to JAC, she worked at Environment Canada, Air Canada, and with her company Terra Firma, co-organized a major conference, “The Environment as a Human Right.”  As Environmental Studies Certificate Coordinator at JAC, Jessica has guided hundreds of students on the green path and organized numerous green events for the college, such as shoreline cleanups, tabling events, and speakers on a wide range of topics. In 2011-12, she led an AASHE-STARS sustainability audit of the campus.  She has been an active member of the Sustainability Committee since 2008. With Imagine Change, she brought to fruition the Teams site for Climate Pedagogy, coordinated two editions of Global Climate Change Week at John Abbott College, helped to create the JAC Climate Action Plan, and co-led the Climate Literacy Project, which was a winner in the ImpAct-Climate Challenge of Colleges and Institutes Canada in 2023.
